Our meeting was called to order at 10 am. Visitors were welcomed.
Minutes - The minutes of the June Meeting were shared in the June Newsletter. Having no corrections or edits, they were accepted as they were provided via email to all members.
Treasurer’s Report was provided.
Programming was outlined:
August - Claudia Dutcher. Discussion on Bristol Paper Smalls
September - Jackie duPlessis. Jackie will speak on Berlin Wool Work and will teach a Berlin Wool Work spot motif sampler
October - Annual Garage Sale - whatever you do not sell, you will be responsible to take back home
November - Our meeting coincides with our Fall Retreat at Salty Yarns. Barbara Hudson of Queenstown Samplers will be our guest speaker
December - Annual Holiday Luncheon and Gift Exchange
January - Annual Review of the Designer of the Year - This January we will be reviewing the patriotic stitching that was our focus for 2026.
February - open as of now
March - Daniel Scheid. Collector of samplers will speak and will bring samplers for viewing
Floss ‘n Flame will discontinue their monthly specials DVHSG. However, going forward, all DVHSG members will receive a 10% store-wide, in-person or online. There is a link on the website we are to follow. The password is provided in our monthly newsletter.
Green Book - Continue to send a list of your finishes to Patrick to be logged into the book. Do not sent them one at a time and do not resend your list. Instead, maybe twice a year, you can send Patrick a list of your finishes that he will print and will enter into the book. Or, you can enter your finsihes in the book yourself at any in-person meeting.
Secret Stitcher - for those participating you should reveal yourself during the month of August. Sign-ups for next year will come out in the August Newsletter and you can register via a link in the newsletter.
Holiday Exchange - Away Stitchers - Sign up for Holiday Exchange will be shortly. Susan H. will be coordinating the away stitchers exchange. Watch your newsletter.
Show ‘n Tell - Thank you to Kelly E for the slide shows she has been creating for our Show ‘n Tell PowerPoints. When submitting in pictures to Kelly please include your name, pattern name, any changes you made to the piece as charted, etc.
The America’s Tapestry is currently on display at the Muscarelle Museum at the College of WIlliam and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. Their website has been updated and merchandise is now available.
Nominating Committee - The positions of Vice President and Treasurer are up for re-election in November. Kelly E., Lynn D. and Linda D. volunteered to form the Committee and will present a slate of Officers in October for review and election at the November Meeting.
Our program for this meeting was our very own Theresa Baird of Hearts Ease Examplar Workes gave a presentation. Theresa spoke about her 13 colonies samplers. She also spoke of her other original designs. She is a great talent and does a lot of research into each piece she designs. The verse in almost all her pieces are written by her. She is a treasure! So glad she is in our group. And boy can she tell a story! The whole room will be laughing.
Upcoming events -
Rehoboth Beach Needlework Expo, Septmber 11 through November 1, 2026. They will start collecting entries AUgust 23rd.
