July 2016 Meeting

A quick recap....this blogger was not there but can post because of our very capable Secretary who shares copious notes from the meeting with us.....

Courtesy of cut and paste from out newsletter.   Thank you Caryl C.

July Meeting - This month, we enjoyed a little shopping time with our annual garage sale. Most, if not all of us, left with some new items, while at the same time letting some other stash items go.

August Meeting - Barbara Hutson will join us for a presentation on some of her newer sampler reproductions. There will also be a free graph for anyone who attends the meeting.            Barbara will also have some of her charts for sale.

September Meeting -  Carla Bates will show us how to pin our projects in preparation for framing. We will be able to bring a project to use for the program. Kits will include an 8” x 10” piece of foam core and a frame. She suggests a design size of 5” x 7” and a fabric size of 11” x 13” to allow for pinning. Cost will be in the neighborhood of $15-20 and you will need to sign up by the August meeting. Payment will be collected at the September
meeting.

October Meeting - A presentation on buttons. Some retail items will be available for purchase.

November Meeting - Cynthia Steinhoff will give a presentation on antique samplers.

December Meeting - Our annual holiday exchange and luncheon. The guild will provide the wraps and members are asked to bring a dessert or side dish to share. It’s not too early to get started on your exchange piece! It does not have to have a holiday theme, but should be some type of needlework accessory, preferably with a sampler theme.

January Meeting - We will review the results of the 2016 needlework challenge and members will share all of the cool needlework items they receive for Christmas.

February and March Meeting TBD

April Meeting - Betsy Morgan will be with us again for our meeting and will be teaching a project in the afternoon. Members will have the opportunity to make a tassel during the program that will be used for an item in the class project (or can be used for another project, if you choose).

Fall of 2017: Lauren Sauer will be here to teach two samplers. This will more than likely be at a separate time from our regular meeting.
