Now onto the business portion of our meeting.
Membership - Caryl C. will share via email an updated, complete listing of our membership.
Elections - Election for the offices of President and Secretary will take place in November. The Nominating Committee will present the slate of candidates in October. Voting will take place in November and those two new officers will take over at the December meeting. If anyone would like their name added to the ballot, contact Pat L. or Robin T. of the Nominating Committee.
Treasury - Members donated to the guild a portion of their profits from sales at the August Stash Reallocation Sale. Items left after the meeting were taken to Fireside Stitchery by Susan D. for eBay sales. Any profits from the sales will be added to the treasury. The eBay sales usually take several months after drop off to be cataloged, photographed and put up for auction. Nancy F. will let us know when we receive payment.
SAL - Work on the iStitch Amethyst Band Sampler continues. If you are part of the SAL, please bring your sampler to the next meeting. It is always fun to see every one's progress and to see all the variations stitchers have done. There are some new projects from Carol Ridyard for another sampler and some holiday offerings. Congratulations to Linda Daeleman for winning the recent iStitch raffle.
Stitchy Day - Members Liz and Deb, also known as Flosstube's - The Country Stitchers - are partnering with two of their local needlework shops to schedule some one-day Stitching Retreats at these shops. First up is September 24 at Hodge Podge in Strasburg. Second in the series will be on October 17 at Stitches Unlimited in Lancaster. They are doing this to promote local “brick and mortar” businesses. Check out the drop-down box on their most recent Flosstube video for details and shop contact information.
Events - Cynthia Steinhoff will be giving a lecture/presentation on the Delaware Sampler book she co-authored on September 20th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Dover Public Library.
Programs
October - Patrick B. will teach members the bullion knot. The guild will provide the pattern, needle, fabric and threads. It is recommended that you use stretcher bars (6 x 6) or a hoop (4”). Bullion knots require using two hands. A frame weight would be helpful too.
November - Beth Seal, Summer House Stitche Workes and Janice Conley Note, Noteworthy Needle, will be teaching classes on Saturday and Sunday. As part of our meeting on Saturday, Janice will teach us to drill an artificial pumpkin with a cross-stitch pattern for us to stitch.
There will be an afternoon class with Beth Seal called Crowning Glory. There is pre-stitch required.
On Saturday, there will be a sign-up for lunch.
On Sunday, we will work with Janice Note on a project called “Turn, Turn, Turn”.
There will probably be a day trip planned for Beth and Janice on Friday—more information will follow. On Saturday evening we will be taking the designers for dinner and members are welcome to join us.
December - Our December Meeting is our annual holiday exchange and covered dish luncheon. If you are a new member, check out prior Facebook and Blogposts for photos of exchange items. Exchange pieces should be sampler-related and must be hand stitched. More information will follow on the luncheon.
January - Our January Meeting focuses on sharing all things stitchy received for the holidays. We will also have two members share their individual stories about stitching.
February - Cynthia Steinhoff will join us to give a presentation on Quaker samplers.
March - TBD
April - Betsy Morgan will be with us to teach a new project. It is called the “Christmas Etui”. This will be the last opportunity for us to have a class with Betsy as she is retiring in 2020. More information on the class will follow.
May: Our 20th Guild Anniversary event—more information will follow!

Today's Program
We welcomed Lenny Truitt of Serendipity Quilt Shop in Dagsboro to share her knowledge on tinted linens. This is a technique that has been around since the 1880’s but was especially popular with homemakers in the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. Lenny provided details on what homemakers stitched and shared her many examples of the vintage technique.

“Tooth Fairies With a Purpose” are holding another dinner/auction on October 24th at Cavalier County Club, Churchman's Road, Newark, DE. This is always a great event with many wonderful baskets being auctioned, a great meal for a great cause. The proceeds this year will benefit the Down’s Syndrome Association of Delaware.
